Rumours By Fleetwood Mac

This record cover design for Fleetwood Mac’s album Rumors
utilizes elements of the songs to represent the interpersonal
turmoil experienced by the band during the making of this album. Specifically, the imagery of the chain is a metaphor for the
breaking apart of the ties that bound the band together.

The style of this piece is also largely influenced by the work of designer Alexey Brodovitch, utilizing his technique of combining imagery and typography to create a sense of musicality.

“We wondered whether we would get through Rumours. In that tiny little room there were five people that were totally breaking up.”
